Heyya, I’m Shev!
Slow traveller, PADI scuba instructor, planet lover, explorer, you get it.
All my life, I have wanted nothing more than to be a travel writer and location independent. I longed to travel!
In 2016 I took my first solo trip to the UK & Ireland for a month and started Shev Strolls as a way to share my experiences with my friends and family. And then I went home. And I got stuck.

Like many people (maybe even you?), I put off my travels for many years to work the grind. But! I committed to saving as much money as possible with the intention to quit my job on my 30th birthday and travel for 3-5 years. That was my goal!
In February 2020, I got my scuba diver certification and fell completely in love. That was it, I was going to quit my job and become a dive instructor! Obviously, that dream was immediately squashed.

When the world stopped in 2020, I took advantage of finally working remotely to reassess what I wanted to do with my life. I really wanted to scuba dive, so I got dry-suit certified and started diving on Canada’s exquisite west coast.
Finally, an opportunity arose, and in February 2021 I moved to Huatulco, Oaxaca, México to complete my divemaster training.
My plan was to stay for 3 months, but complicated travel processes kept me here long enough to decide to stay. I’ve learned that Huatulco has that effect on people.
There was so little information available online when I came to Huatulco, that when I decided to stay it seemed like a natural fit to start giving the information myself!
I spent 2 years living in and learning everything I could about Huatulco. Now I put that same energy and enthusiasm into every location I visit.
