Suites Albatros Cozumel – Boutique Hotel Review
Looking for the perfect boutique hotel in Cozumel?
I visit Cozumel often, and try to always stay somewhere new so I can get a taste of each part of the beautiful island. The diving is incredible, varied, and always an adventure. It keeps me coming back every year!
But if there is a place I would visit again and again, its Albatros Suites Cozumel. I completely fell in love with this little boutique hotel in Cozumel, and would love to share it with you!
Summary – Why I Love Alabatros Suites Cozumel
The quick version is that the hotel is comfortable, quite, and has all the amenities. They have a beautiful pool & garden area, their own beach club with a dock, and picturesque rooftop restaurant.
The staff go above & beyond, and I loved the many personal touches I experienced during my stay.
You can easily walk to a convenience store, Coco Cafe for delicious coffee & breakfast, and one of my favourite restaurants in Cozumel – Novente y Tres. Its closer to the marina than downtown is, which is great for diving & snorkel tours.

📍 Location
Suites Albatros Cozumel is about a 10 minute taxi ride from the ferry (downtown), and 20 minutes from the Cozumel International Airport. It’s the best area to stay in Cozumel if you like a quieter area, with no nearby nightclubs.
There is enough close by that you can walk to and taxis are very easily waved down in the street, or the front desk will happily order you one.
Make sure you check out Coco Cafe, and restaurant Novente y Tres!

🛏️Rooms and Amenities
First of all, the rooms at Suites Albatros are huge. There is way more space than you could possibly need, which is great if you are sharing. It feels like you can still have some privacy.
I also appreciate the variety of room types at Suites Albatros. Every room has a microwave, fridge, small table, but the apartments have a full kitchen & dining area. They also have air-conditioning, a safe, noise machine, and clothes horse for drying things on the balcony.
The pool and garden area is spacious with lush grass and loungers. They also have a covered are you can do yoga (mats provided) or get a massage!
Filtered water is available in the rooms and at the front desk – I appreciate refilling my bottle and not needing to buy water!
They have two restaurants. A rooftop restaurant for breakfast and dinner, then the beach club during the day. I ate at both regularly, and thought the food quality & price were great.
The beach club will also deliver to the pool, which made for a perfect post-dive snack! The vibe of the place is intimate and quiet, very different from a Cozumel Dive Resort.

👩👩👦 Who Should Stay at Suite Albatros Cozumel?
This boutique hotel is a perfect fit for couples or friends traveling together. When I visit with MAR Hosted Trips, we book the whole hotel for our group. It would be great for a family reunion, yoga retreat, or a get together with friends.
They also have family rooms, so it can be an affordable option for families. And thanks to the room size, much more comfortable than most resort rooms.
The wifi is not strong, so I don’t recommend it for digital nomads. Which is too bad, because it would be very comfortable for a long term stay!

💝 Unique Personal Touches
These are some things that stood out to me about the service & amenities at this Cozumel boutique hotel.
💬 When you check in, the front desk connects with you on WhatsApp. They send you a welcome message with all details you need. Then you are in touch with them whenever! Need a new towel? Want to book a taxi? Want to order food by the pool? Just ask!
🎶There is a lot of street noise (only if your doors are open), so each room is equipped with a sound machine! I’ve never had that in a hotel before. I thought it was very thoughtful.
👩💼The staff are truly exceptional. They give a family vibe, and are just pleasant to be around. They are helpful of course, but they made me feel like a friend and I loved that!
These are just some of the things that makes Suites Albatros the best place I’ve stayed in Cozumel.
🧠 Things to Know Before you Book
There are a few things to note about Suites Albatros. I do not consider them downsides, but I like to manage expectations.
🛜 The wifi is very slow. It works fine on mobile for messaging and social media, but uploading photos or anything more is tedious.
🏖️ Cozumel is known for diving, not sandy beaches. It’s tough to find the beautiful white sand beaches here. So the beach club Rinconcito de Playa is rocky, not sandy. But they have a dock which is perfect for jumping off! And the food is honestly really good.
🎧 The hotel is on a busy street, but I found the rooms virtually soundproof. However, if you open the balcony doors the noise is overwhelming.

📖 Booking Tips
I always book through Booking.com, because I get my discounts but also have a flexible cancellation policy.
You can also book through a dive shop like Reef Riders Cozumel, so you can get a package price with your dives.
👣 Shev’s Summary – Why I Stay at Suites Albatros Cozumel
I visit Suites Albatros Cozumel again and again because it has the perfect balance for me. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, I can walk to everything I need, and the outdoor space allows me to get some sun and relax after dives.
Even with the slow wifi, I am able to get most my work done (that’s browser based). I really only struggle when it comes to photo and video uploading.
It’s perfect equidistant between downtown and the marina for diving, I feel close to everything without being right in the chaos.
I also find the price very reasonable for the quality. It’s the perfect balance, and the best boutique hotel in Cozumel.
